Social stuff

Hopefully, I do not need to tell you that the field of economics, politics, psychology was once part of social studies. The separation of these fields is artificial and arbitrary. If a scholar limit themself to one, they will only see a spot of the larger picture.

In a sentence, it contains the study of the species’s individuals (how they act), its collective thought (culture; philosophy, religion and else), association between its members (institution; how its member interact). These categories are created by the species, yet they apply to other things as well.

The traditional way of studying people are not enough for this era, where the human mind is configurable from day to day.

Of private property: Notes on economics

My study notes on economics.

A financial crisis disrupts people’s livelihood. It does not simply “disrupts the market”. A market economy will be here as long as it is beneficial for two parties to trade stuff. Since it is here to stay, I think I should at least know the nature of currency and its economy.

Of violence: Notes on political institution and bahavior

Within a “soft state”, power can be bought and sold like any other commodity.

A good government’s first task is to increase public participation of collective decision making. It is not to serve its people. In a free society, civil organizations fill in the gaps of public policy.

On Government

The modern government seem to conflate signaling, resource redistribution and service. An individual does not need to strictly belong to any one role. However, for simplicity’s sake, one functional branch should do one thing.

A social hierarchy made up people of the same age is a collective reminiscence of a past of being ruled. It’s quite a farce.
