Breaking Out Of Behavior Loops

A lot of beings do get demoralized after being ignored or acted negatively on. I do too.

Here is what worked for me:

  • to drop the memory voluntarily. sometimes i don’t do this because i value that memory.
  • to disassociate. physically you only exist in the immediate present, so is your past self really you?
  • to acquire more information. to (attempt to) socialize, even. this seems to work more or less.

Some of the commonly accepted “healthy coping methods” are very harmful to this one - I still get stuck emotionally for days and I do the thing over and over again. the thing itself is not unhealthy to me, but it gets me stuck in the loop more.

So do something different from what you did yesterday. Ask someone who has sanity and tell them your plan. Yes, that stranger over there looking at newspaper will work too. The look on their face after hearing what you are about to do gives you a pretty good estimate as to if you are going to get yourself killed or not.

In my simulations, if you live in a big city, when you try something different, being hit by a car is the number one cause of injury or death beyond your control. That’s kind of fucked up.
